Do you have a teenager at home and you want to get them their own bible? How should you as a parent go about selecting a one for them? Does it really matter that they have their own? What about a teen study bible? Should they use them or the same type you use? Are you a teen considering buying it for yourself but don’t know which one is the best for you? Should you when studying have more than one translation? If so, then why?

How often do you hear someone say they have trouble understanding the bible? Over time the English language has made changes. These changes have made it somewhat difficult to understand the written word of the King James Version which was translated over 400 years ago. In recent years many different versions have been written in attempts to make the bible easier to read and understand. Has this really been helpful? Or have they distorted God’s word by watering down some of its meaning or by changing the meaning all together? Unfortunately some of these writers have did both.

First let me explain that no Bible translation is inspired. These translations are on put together by man. The only perfect scriptures are those in which God Himself revealed to the apostles and prophets. What profit is it to anyone if when studying you do not get the true meaning of these scriptures? Can one even know when they are reading something that has been watered down or even changed? Is there any one translation that is more accurate over the others? While people may vary on their opinion to which one, how can one really know?

Let’s consider this scenario: I will tell you a story and you go tell another person the same story. That person tells someone else, and so forth. By the time it has been repeated several more times and comes back to me much of the original story has been changed. The first person didn’t change it but maybe by one or two minor points. So if anyone of them is closest to be correct it would have to be the first one I told. While this may seem a strange way to get the answer as to which translation to choose the principal is the same. You would want to go with the one that was translated from the original manuscript. The King James Version was translated from the original manuscripts.

So does that mean that we should only use the King James Version? Of course not. When studying scriptures this should be only one of the translations you should have among others. The King James has a version out for teens and it is called the Axis Teen Bible. This is not the only one to consider. There are many teen study bibles that are on the market today that you can consider. As long as you have a main bible to compare scriptures with you can add as many other translations as you like.

Another choice available for a teen study bible is the New Living Translation bible which is very easy to read. When comparing the scriptures you will find that your understanding of the King James Version is better. The New International Version has a teen study bible out also. The NIV bible also has one aimed for the boys and one for the girls.

Many young people are finding the Contemporary English Version easy to understand. You may also find some of these bibles in different styles. If you are interested in finding more teen study bibles check out this site. You will find many different translations for all ages.
